In a new commercial, YSL Beauty introduces LIBRE Santal Couture, described as a new scent of freedom, untamed in character and standing as the newest limited-edition chapter within YSL Beauty’s iconic LIBRE collection.
Fronting the campaign is Global Ambassador Dua Lipa, whose presence gives the fragrance’s themes a tangible, human face.
Directed by Romain Wygas, the campaign film follows Dua Lipa through the raw, sun-scorched ochre expanse of the South African desert, a setting that mirrors the fragrance’s own untamed spirit.
Throughout, she carries herself with a striking sense of calm, feline in her movements and unmistakably commanding in presence.
Set to her own fiery cover of Aretha Franklin’s “Think,” the film builds toward a singular, evocative moment: she strikes a match, sandalwood ignites, and the LIBRE sign burns bright against the desert backdrop.
The message running beneath it all is unmistakable, this is a woman who doesn’t seek power in the conventional sense.
She simply is power, rooted deeply in the earth beneath her and unapologetically, entirely herself.
As the first floral-woody signature to join the LIBRE wardrobe, Santal Couture brings together vibrant French lavender and a sensual orange blossom accord, layering them against rare New Caledonian sandalwood to create a fragrance that reads as warm, velvety, and altogether addictive.
The result is a composition often associated with masculine woods, here deliberately reimagined and turned into a distinctly feminine force.
The song featured in the YSL LIBRE Santal Couture commercial is Dua Lipa’s cover of George Michael’s iconic 1990 hit, “Freedom!”
