Apple Unveils iPhone Duo, Redefining the Boundaries of What an iPhone Can Be

Apple has introduced iPhone Duo, its most ambitious reimagining of the iPhone to date, in a striking new commercial that showcases the largest display ever featured on an iPhone, a foldable, posable, and remarkably durable device that signals an entirely new chapter for the product line.

The device made its formal debut at a dedicated launch event, aptly titled “Surprise and Shine,” held Wednesday, September 9, 2026, in Cupertino, California, a setting befitting what Apple positions as a genuine leap forward in mobile design.

At its core, iPhone Duo is a foldable iPhone built around the largest display Apple has ever offered, paired with an entirely new suite of iOS experiences engineered for unprecedented versatility. Side-by-side apps enable seamless multitasking, hands-free FaceTime calls open new possibilities for connection, and flexible viewing angles adapt fluidly to however the device is held or positioned.

The design is anchored by a titanium frame and a 48MP Dual Fusion camera system, introducing entirely new ways to capture photos and video, while the A20 Pro chip and an innovative dual-battery system ensure all-day power without compromise. Woven throughout the experience is Siri AI, reimagined as a more personal, more powerful assistant.

Conceived with a distinctive, passport-like form factor, iPhone Duo presents a 5.4-inch outer display that unfolds vertically into an expansive 7.6-inch Retina inner display. Powering this design is the new A20 Pro chip, complemented by a custom glare-reducing nanotexture finish engineered to minimize the visibility of the screen crease, alongside an under-display camera that preserves the device’s clean, uninterrupted display. The device runs on iOS 27 and will be available in two refined finishes, Star White and Night Sky, starting at approximately $1,999.

Pre-orders open Friday, October 16, with full availability following on Friday, October 23.
