IKEA USA Second-Hand Furniture Marketplace Commercial

In a new commercial, IKEA invites viewers to discover pre-loved pieces through the IKEA Second-Hand Furniture Marketplace, an approach to buying used furniture that the brand frames as refreshingly simple, and even enjoyable.

The underlying promise is threefold: shop sustainably, save money along the way, and give furniture a meaningful second life rather than letting it go to waste.

The marketplace itself operates as an online peer-to-peer platform, one that allows users to buy and sell used IKEA furniture directly between one another, without intermediaries. Conceived with circular commerce and sustainability at its core, it functions as a dedicated, brand-specific alternative to the general classified sites many might otherwise turn to.

Sellers, for their part, simply post photographs and details of their pre-owned IKEA items directly onto the platform, at which point IKEA’s own database steps in to streamline the process,  automatically recognizing the item to autofill its dimensions, original assembly guides, and stock photos, sparing sellers the tedium of entering such details by hand.

As a further incentive, IKEA store vouchers are frequently offered as part of the exchange, often including a bonus percentage, such as an additional 15%, to be spent back in store.

At the heart of it all lies a broader philosophy: IKEA holds firmly to the belief that sustainable living ought to be both affordable and accessible to everyone, not a privilege reserved for the few. It’s this conviction that drives the brand to make reselling, reusing, repairing, and recycling products as effortless as possible,  creating, in turn, genuine opportunities to save money, to love one’s belongings for longer, and to meaningfully reduce waste along the way.
