Online tax software development and financial tech company TaxSlayer aims to show that it helps millions of taxpaying Americans get the maximum refunds they deserve in a humorous commercial, titled “Refund Tree”.

The spot features a mother of two who completes her tax return with TaxSlayer at her laptop, in the kitchen.

While an onscreen line on the woman’s computer reads “Ready to get your biggest refund?”, the voiceover states “This is what it feels like to file with TaxSlayer. Confident you’ll get your guaranteed maximum refund”. The protagonist is then shown in her backyard, staring at a cash-growing tree, which introduces itself as her “refund tree”. When the tree asks her to pick from her branches, the woman grabs a chainsaw and takes it down.

As hundreds of bill rain down on her, her husband praises her for her work.

In another commercial, a customer filing his return with the Simply Free option transforms into a cowboy and uses a lasso to wrangle a cow made of cash.

Based in Augusta, the tech company successfully completed millions of federal and state e-filed tax returns and remains dedicated to providing taxpayers with the right tools at the right price.
