Hyundai Canada showcases the redesigned Tucson, with best-in-class standard safety and tech features, in a new commercial.
The spot opens with a voiceover stating that the redesigned Hyundai Tucson is full of innovative new safety and tech features, like Baby Mode, which smooths both braking and accelerating, keeping passengers of all sizes more comfortable”.
As the scene unfolds, a woman drives her Tucson carefully, activating Baby Mode to avoid disturbing her sleeping “baby” in the backseat. However, in a humorous twist, it’s revealed that the “baby” is actually Team Canada Olympic Hockey Gold Medalist Brianne Jenner, peacefully napping.
The ad concludes with the mother glancing fondly at her unexpected passenger, as the tagline “Made for those who drive hockey” appears on-screen, tying the TUCSON’s versatility and comfort to Canada’s love for the sport.
Baby Mode, which automatically smooths out initial acceleration via pedal input and also reduces reverse acceleration to reduce impacts caused by parking bumps, is a feature limited to hybrid versions of the updated Tucson because it relates to the tuning of the petrol-electric powertrain’s e-motor. However, it is expected to be made available with other electrified Hyundai models in future.
