FreshPet Mobster & His Boy, Junior Commercial - Feat. Steve Schirripa From The Sopranos

Steve Schirripa, best known for his role as Bobby Baccalieri on HBO’s The Sopranos, brings a touch of mob humor to a new commercial for FreshPet. The ad, which aired during the Christmas Day NFL games on Netflix, combines Schirripa’s tough-guy persona with a heartfelt message about caring for pets.

The spot opens with Schirripa playing cards in a classic New Jersey mobster setting. The lighthearted tension kicks in when a man enters the room holding a package that needs to be refrigerated package. When he discovers a bag of FreshPet in the fridge, he asks about the reason why there is dog food in the refrigerator.

Schirripa responds in his signature no-nonsense style: “That’s not dog food. That’s FreshPet. Real meat. Real veggies. For my boy, Junior.”

The man hesitates, replying, “No disrespect… but what are we doin’ here?” His comment brings the card game to a halt as the other mobsters silently rise, glaring at him. The next scene cuts to a trunk being slammed shut as Schirripa and his dog, Junior, watch. Schirripa delivers the punchline to Junior: “If anybody asks, we were at grandma’s.”

Schirripa’s real-life connection to the campaign adds authenticity. He has a dog named Willieboy, whom he feeds FreshPet, and has shared in interviews how much he loves his pet, equating it to the love he has for his two daughters.
