Asda has unveiled its 2024 Christmas ad campaign, “Go Big or Go Gnome,” featuring a lively team of animated garden gnomes on a festive mission. The 60-second ad, set to the iconic The A-Team theme, opens with Asda colleagues Maggie and Bill worrying if their store will be ready in time for the holidays amidst a fierce snowstorm. Bill, however, is confident, knowing that activating one gnome will summon hundreds more from across the country to help out.
This “ceramic team” includes Max, Gnibbles, Gnorma, Gnicky, and Gnarla, five unique helpers with specialized skills, who join forces to turn the store into a Christmas wonderland. Max, the team’s leader, cheerfully tells Maggie and Bill, “Go big or go gnome!” even after cracking his leg in his rush to “get Christmas cracking.” Bill, who happens to know Max, hands him special glue, allowing him to continue with the mission. The gnomes whip up festive meals, bake cookies and mince pies, and showcase Asda’s holiday products, including items from the George range.
The ad, which has been created over seven months using more than 3,000 hours of animated footage, concludes with the gnomes departing in Asda vans, leaving a beautifully prepared store behind. Fans can catch the ad on ITV during Coronation Street on November 6 at 8:15 pm.
The five cute gnome characters will also be available for purchase nationwide, starting November 7, along with over 540 seasonal items in Asda’s holiday range – including the popular Mrs. Claus gnome.
