Utilita, UK’s leading supplier of Smart Pay As You Go energy, has brought back Dave Angel, the nation’s favourite Eco Warrior, to remind the nation that the cheapest, greenest energy is the energy we don’t use.

Dave, played by Simon Day, stars in a new advert titled “Save Like Dave”, in which he talks about how he saves with Utilita Smart Pay As You Go meters. He informs that there meters tell you how much energy you’re using and what it’s costing you, highlighting that, when you can see, you can save. Dave lists then some of the changes he made thanks to these meters, mentioning that they turn off the lights when they leave the room, they only boil the amount of water that they need, and he batch bakes his Vegan Sausage rolls.

“Remember: the cheapest, greenest energy is the energy we don’t use,” he says at the end of the spot.

Dave Angel also appears in several other adverts for Utilita, encouraging consumers to start making free and simple changes at home that will make a different on their energy bill.

Some of the changes they can make consist in turning the heating down by 1 degree, switching lights off in unoccupied rooms, always fully loading the waching machine, air drying laundry when possible, avoiding standby and unplugging gadgets, setting their hot water tap temperature to 50°C, keeping showers to 4 mins maximum, swapping one bath per week for a 4 min shower, washing laundry at 30°C instead of 40/60°C, using the most efficient cooking appliance, batch cooking when possible, using the right size pan with a lid, and avoiding over-filling the kettle.
