Renault says it’s time to talk engine again in one of its latest ads, for the new Renault Austral e-tech hybrid.
The spot features two robots working on a car, which it turns out it’s the new Renault Austral e-tech hybrid. Various individuals are shown watching the two machines as they create the vehicle and the line “It’s time to talk engine again” appears on the screen.
Serving as soundtrack is a cover of Metallica’s iconic “Nothing Else Matters”, performed by Scala & Kolacny Brothers.
The new Austral e-tech hybrid adopts the brand’s new “Sensual Tech” design, with sculpted surfaces and prominent rear flanks, a checkered grille dominated by chrome with the new “Nouvel”R” logo, a full-LED C-Shape lighting at the front and rear.
The interior is spacious and is heavily inspired by the Megane E-Tech. It boasts a dashboard named OpenR based around two 12.0-inch screens, one in landscape orientation behind the wheel for driver information and a portrait infotainment touchscreen in the centre, canted towards the driver.
The new Austral runs Google’s Android Automotive software, which brings a variety of apps as well as baked-in Google Maps and Google’s voice assistant.
In terms of safety, it has up to 32 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, 360-degree cameras, hands-free parking, blind spot monitors, and adaptive LED headlights, to name a few.
The Austral range includes different trims – Equilibre, Techno, Esprit Alpine and Esprit Alpine+.
The starting price for the Austral Renault is €33,400 for the entry-level Equilibre trim level, with the 130-horsepower Mild Hybrid Advanced engine.
