Erste Group has released its latest Christmas advertisement, marking the sixth consecutive year of the Vienna-based banking group’s commitment to spreading holiday cheer through a global digital campaign.
This year’s festive commercial features Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer as the central character. Departing from his traditional Christmas responsibilities at the North Pole, Rudolph embraces a new passion-rodeo riding. Demonstrating self-belief and the courage to pursue his dreams rather than conforming to others’ expectations, Rudolph takes on the role of a bull in a lively corrida.
The commercial portrays Rudolph’s daring rodeo performance, with moments of suspense as it seems he might take flight, eventually tossing his rider into the sand. The poignant message, “You are what you want to be,” appears onscreen as the commercial concludes. Accompanying this heartwarming narrative is the timeless Christmas song “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” originally popularized by Gene Autry in 1949.
In the previous year’s #believeinchristmas campaign, Erste Group emphasized the power of togetherness as the ultimate response to those seeking to dampen the holiday spirit. Addressing the global challenge of the energy crisis, the advertisement conveyed the message that unity ensures the resilience of Christmas joy against any threat.
Having previously featured characters like Hedgehog Henry (2018), Bumblebee Hanna (2019), Composer Edgar (2020), and Father-to-be Jakub (2021), #believeinchristmas stands as the fifth international Christmas advertisement created by Erste Group in collaboration with the agency Jung von Matt DONAU.
