BJ’s Wholesale Club has launched a new ad campaign, created in partnership with its agency of record Terri & Sandy, to remind customers that they can find savings across the board at BJ’s, including up to 25% off grocery store prices and everyday low gas prices.
The campaign includes more than ten hilariously twisted videos, inspired by a variety of classic genres, from hospital dramas to supernatural thrillers, which take an absurdist turn as the incredible savings at BJ’s hijack the storyline.
One of the ads features a man entering a balloon shop and, after noticing a pump emanating some gas, telling the shop assistant that he’s leaking gas. It soon turns out there is indeed a gas leak, more precisely a helium leak. The shop assistant starts talking in a specific voice and asks the customer if he heard about the everyday low gas prices at BJ’s Wholesale Club. The latter shares his opinion about the fact that gas prices are so high these days and they just keep getting higher and higher. They both soon burst into laughter and laugh until the shop assistant explains that this is why he switched to BJ’s Wholesale Club.
The commercial ends with the voiceover saying the tagline “Absurdly Simple Savings”.
The spots run in new and established markets across connected TV, cable, social and digital platforms.
