Aflac, a leading provider of supplemental insurance in the U.S., celebrates its status of Official Partner of the March Madness Tournament in a commercial starring Coach Staley & Coach K.
The spot opens with the two coaches birdwatching, with the Aflac Duck by their side. “You know, Coach K? Retirement looks good,” Coach Staley tells her fellow, who doesn’t hesitate to answer “Who needs championships when you can look at birds?”. At this point, the Aflac Duck tells them he’s looking at a goat. The animal, the Gap Goat, shows up bringing a bill to a security officer wearing a cervical collar, worth more than $1000. Coach K explains that the Aflac Duck is talking about the expenses health insurance doesn’t cover. Coach Staley informs the worker that with Aflac she can get money to help close that gap.
At the end of the commercial, which sees the Aflac Duck putting the Gap Goat on the run, the voiceover urges viewers to “get help with expenses health insurance doesn’t cover, at Aflac.”
Last year, Aflac partnered with Lil Rel Howery and Wanda Sykes for its March Madness campaign, called “Pre-Pain Show”, which was actually an extension of the 2021 Aflac “Pre-Pain Show”. The two comedians showed fans the gap between what health insurance covers and where medical bills begin to pile up.
