Netflix has released the trailer for the second season of its Swedish series Young Royals.
The show revolves around Prince Wilhelm, a young member of the Swedish royal family, as he adjusts to life at his prestigious new boarding school, Hillerska, where he finally gets an opportunity to explore his true self and find out what kind of life he really wants. According to the official synopsis, “he starts dreaming of a future filled with freedom and unconditional love far away from the royal obligations – but when he unexpectedly becomes next in line for the throne his dilemma is heightened as he has to make a choice. Love or duty.”
The cast includes Edvin Ryding, Omar Rudberg, Nikita Uggla, Malte GĂ„rdinger and Frida Argento in the main roles.
Season 1 saw Prince Wilhelm breaking up with Simon (Omar Rudberg) and having his sex tape leaked because of August (Malte GĂ„rdinger), his cousin.
In the upcoming season, which sees him and his colleagues returning to Hillerska after the winter break, he seems to be ready to burn everything to the ground and take revenge on August. Even though the latter is remorseful, the young royal is setting out to make his cousin’s life a living hell. He’s also hoping to win Simon’s trust again, but Simon seems to be ready to move on.
“With new friendships, more secrets and the monarchy in jeopardy, the new season is set to be a whole new journey for everyone”, the streaming service revealed.
The song used in the trailer is “The Most Beautiful Boy (Strong Outside a Man But Inside a Boy)“, a popular song by British musician Jamie Irrepressible, known as The Irrepressibles, from his 2020 album “Superheroes”.
While the first season of Young Royals, consisting of six episodes, launched on Netflix on July 1st 2021, the second season will be available for streaming on November 1st.
