McDonald’s UK has released a new advert to announce that the Elf on the Shelf team have arrived in McDonald’s Happy Meal, which is available from 11AM until 20th December and includes an item from a range of toys and books.

The 30-second spot features an elf on the shelf who leaves a little girl’s room and flies all the way to Santa’s house to let him know that he’s got another name for his “Nice” list. The voiceover reminds audiences that they can choose between a book or toy and adds the tagline “Some fun, some food, it’s all inside this Happy Meal.”

Available for £3, an Elf on the Shelf Happy Meal, which comes in a house-shaped box, contains a choice of Fish Fingers, Chicken McNuggets, or Veggie Dippers with an Apple & Grapefruit Bag, or Carrott Bag side, as well as drink options including water, milk, or a Fruit Shoot.

Your little one can open up a world of fun this Christmas with 10 exclusive Scout Elves, Elf Pets and Elf Mates, which now come with a loop so you can hang them on your Christmas tree and two books you can choose from – “Merry Christmas, It’s Your Elf” and “Merry Christmas, It’s Your Reindeer”.

The festive boxes will be available for a limited time only, until December 20. They can be purchased in restaurants or via McDelivery through the McDonald’s app, Uber Eats, or Just Eat.

In the past few years, the fast-food chain has been trialling new initiatives to make the Happy Meal toy more sustainable and it is proud to declare that all plastic book and toy packaging has been replaced with recyclable paper packaging in the Happy Meal. They have also removed hard plastic toys from the Happy Meal and, from January 2021, the Happy Meal includes soft toys, sustainable paper-based toys and books.
