Intuit promotes its TurboTax Live service, which lets users connect and get support in real time from a CPA, in a new commercial.
The ad features a Tax Expert named Edith who helps a diverse cast of people with the information they need. She tells a couple whose son is gone off to college that she can help them file a tuition tax credit for him, informs a photographer that the props she’s using (a wooded puppet that rides a horse) can be deducted, and a mother that she can write off the WiFi in her son’s treehouse if that’s where she gets her freelancing done.
At the end of the commercial, Edith urges viewers to file with the help of an expert or let an expert file for them.
A previous ad for TurboTax Live featured an expert who’s also helping various people, including a woman playing the clarinet, a circus clown and a fisherman, to deal with their tax situations.
Intuit says that 100% of TurboTax Live experts are CPAs, EAs or Tax Attorneys who can even review your return line by line, sign it, and guarantee it’s done right.
TurboTax offers a Live Basic Package, which is essentially the free version but with on-demand video access to a tax pro for help, advice and a final review, a Deluxe package, which lets you itemize and claim other tax deductions and tax credits, and includes the ItsDeductible feature for calculating the value of donated items, a Premier package, which is the Deluxe version plus added capability for reporting investments and rental income, and comes with on-demand video access to a tax pro, and the Self-Employed package, which provides everything in the Premier package plus deduction help and expense-tracking features for freelancers, independent contractors and side-hustlers.
