Telstra highlights, in its latest TV ad, that “You don’t need Australia’s best network… until you do”.

The 30-second spot, dubbed “Stay close,” features a middle-aged woman video calling her mother to see how she’s doing. The old lady initially places the smartphone to her ear, but her daughter tells her – with a large smile on her face – that it’s a video call and she doesn’t need to keep it to her ear. She doesn’t hesitate to also tell her mom it’s good to see her face.

“You don’t need Australia’s best network… until you do,” the voiceover says at the end of the commercial.

In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic and its effects on the population, Telstra announced that they are removing late payment fees on all Telstra bills that become overdue between 19 March – 30 June 2020, they are offering customers more data on their post-paid mobile service to use in Australia within 30 days if they register by 30 June 2020, and they are also giving unlimited data on the home broadband plans (ADSL, nbn and Cable) until 30 June 2020. In addition, customers on JobSeeker with an eligible service may be able to access a discount off their bill for 6 months. This offer ends 30 June 2020.
