Panera Bread has released a hilarious new commercial to promote its MyPanera+ Coffee monthly subscription, which lets you get unlimited coffee for $8.99 a month.
The 60-second spot, titled “Goodbye Extra. Hello Unlimited.”, features a woman who asks for a regular coffee in a coffee shop and is offered instead, by an overzealous barista (played by Bachelor Nation’s Wells Adams), something else or unnecessary extras, such as an acorn spiced latte, a nitro charcoal brew with dry ice, fresh unicorn milk, and foam art.
At the end of the commercial, when the barista asks himself why everyone leaves, an onscreen line informs that, with $8.99/month, consumers can get unlimited coffee. The tagline “Your cup is always full” also appears.
The MyPanera+ Coffee subscription programme, launched in February 2020, is available for $8.99 plus tax and includes one cup of drip hot coffee (Light Roast, Dark Roast, Decaf and Hazelnut are all available as options), hot tea, or iced coffee every two hours during regular bakery-cafe hours, including free refills of the same beverage at participating US Panera Bread bakery-cafés.
The “Goodbye Extra, Hello Unlimited” campaign was developed with Conscious Minds Studio and director Oren Kaplan, and targets “anyone wanting a cup of premium coffee who has suffered through the agony of spending a small fortune, enduring crazy add-ons and time wasted in line,” according to Panera vp of brand building Ezra Martin. “We know many consumers will find this to be very relatable. We want them to know that Panera is the best solution for a premium cup of coffee at an exceptional value,” Martin also said in a press statement.
