Hyundai showcases the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe in a new ad, that focuses on the Safe Exit Assist, designed to keep rear-seat passengers from opening the door and walking into traffic when vehicles are approaching from the rear.

The commercial features a father and his little son in various situations, with the kid always asking his dad to look.

One time, for instance, he’s asking his dad to look as he’s trying to touch a hive, another time he’s asking him to look as he shows up on the beach all covered in seaweed, another time he’s asking him to look as he’s pouring a ton of syrup on the waffles, in a dining restaurant, and another time, while they are camping, he wakes up his dad in the middle of the night to show him a raccoon that came in their tent to search for food.

The end of the spot sees the boy and his dad returning home from their trip, with the kid trying to open the car door. Luckily, the man receives an acoustic and visual warning on the dashboard, advising him to check surroundings, and prevents his son from getting out of the vehicle and being hit. “Son, look,” he tells the child, before the voiceover says “A better way to look out for everyone. The Hyundai Santa Fe with Safe Exit Assist”.

This is not the first ad focused on the Santa Fe’s new Safety Exit Assist feature. A spot released last year shows how a child’s life is saved when, after his attempt to open the car door when nature calls, the Safety Exit Assist senses another vehicle approaching from the side and automatically lock the doors.

The Safe Exit Assist was introduced on the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe, described, at the time, as Hyundai’s “most advanced SUV ever”. Other safety features available on the Santa Fe include Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Blind Spot Collision Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection, all part of Hyundai SmartSense active safety and driving assistance technologies, which is, according to the brand, one of the best-in-class safety packages and safety features.

The automaker has announced that Hyundai Assurance is offering 0% APR financing and 4 months of deferred payments on Santa Fe and other select new vehicles purchased through May 4 and it will also cover up to 6 months of payments if you lose your job this year due to COVID-19.
