Chanel celebrates 20 years of its J12 watch with a special series of interviews. The J12 muses give an answer to a series of questions related to their 20 most wonderful years.
In one of the interviews the ladies – including Claudia Schiffer (face for Cristalle fragrance and Chanel watches), Lily-Rose Depp (face for No5 L’Eau and an ambassador for Chanel makeup) and her mother, Vanessa Paradis (the face for Coco fragrance), Naomi Campbell, Ali MacGraw (the face for No5), and Liu Wen – talk about how they would like to spend two decades. “It would be the most wonderful to spend 20 years with my loved ones, my family and friends,” Lily Rose Depp said, mentioning that “it’s a simple answer, but it’s true”. “The most wonderful 20 years with… would be with my family,” Claudia Schiffer said. Naomi Campbell said “20 years with the great continent of Africa” and Ali MacGraw answered “20 years with a sane feeling on the planet among all of us,” and Vanesa Paradis answered that “The best thing would be to stay 20 for 20 years”.
The 30-second video ends with the J12 appearing on screen along with the tagline “It’s all about seconds”.
The J12, first released in 1999, quickly established itself as an undisputed pillar in the brand’s watch collection. The 38mm watch is now entirely in ceramic, including the case back (which was previously in steel), has a sapphire crystal, and is slightly thicker, to accommodate Caliber 12.1. It also features slimmer numerals, an increase in the bezel notches from 30 to 40, and narrower crown.
