Australia’s largest department store group, Meyer, highlights, in its Christmas commercial, that “Christmas is where we are”.
The spot, created by Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, tells the story of Sally, a young girl who goes camping with her family at Christmas time and worries that Santa won’t find her. However, her father comes up with a solution and she then relaxes.
“Christmas Is Where We Are” an onscreen line reads at the end of the commercial, which is scored by relaxing music.
The new campaign from Myer, which runs across TV, digital and social, print and OOH, also includes a fun and interactive product called the Myer Global Positioning Stocking. This is a Bluetooth-enabled stocking which pairs with a mobile device or tablet and includes a treasure trove of festive features such as a platform for children to communicate directly with Santa, an interactive map for kids to explore, allowing them to follow Santa’s journey on Christmas Eve, integration with Myer’s full range of toys to help create the ultimate Christmas wish list, and an illuminated Christmas countdown via twinkling LED lights on the stocking that change nightly in the lead up to Christmas.
The innovative item is available exclusively at all Myer stores and online for $34.95.
