E*TRADE urges you to start investing with E*TRADE “so you can do what you love, and love what your financial future looks like too,” in a new commercial, entitled “Game Plan”.

The 30-second spot features a basketball player and a mascot walking down a corridor and talking about how similar they are. Well, actually only the guy – who’s rocking a fancy suit and a pair of headphones on his neck – does the talk. “We’re a lot alike. Just two dudes getting paid to do what we love. Only difference is you never get booed. And of course the salaries. Mainly the salaries,” the athlete points out as they get into the parking lot, where he finds his expensive luxury sports car and the mascot his old car.

Before leaving, the basketball player urges the mascot to try investing with E*TRADE, which makes it easy to get started without all the typical finance charges.

“Your job is rewarding. Just not financially.” an onscreen line reads at the end of the commercial, which also sees the voiceover adding the tagline “Don’t get mad. Start investing with E*TRADE today”.
