Co-op shows, in its recently released Christmas ad, how even the smallest Co-op food item can help fund thousands of good causes across the country – like the brilliant BTM brass band.
The spot features a nurse returning home from work on Christmas Eve, with a Co-op bag. Her husband, who’s been waiting for her, despite the late hour, is making the mince pies she has bought from Co-op and keeps her company in the kitchen for her to enjoy one of those pies. Soon, their daughter joins them and they all spend quality time together. In the background, the BTM brass band is playing an exclusive reworking of the “The Fairytale of New York”.
Toward the end of the commercial, it it highlighted that, when members buy selected Co-op branded products and services from selected Co-op group businesses, 1% of what they spend goes to their local causes, like BTM brass band. “It’s what we do,” the voiceover adds.
The BTM Brass Band is one of the thousands of local causes that receive financial support thanks to Co-op’s Local Community Fund. The retailer says this year they over 4,000 local causes were supported by The Big Co-op Payout.
