Michael Bublé is convinced that bubly has named their sparkling water after him in the brand’s Super Bowl 2019 ad.
The spot opens with the singer walking to the drink section of a convenience store, where comedian Aparna Nancherla is standing with a can of Bubly. “Blackberry Bublé, my favorite,” he says, grabbing a can of the fizzy water. “You mean Bubly” Nancherla says. As they argue over the pronunciation of the water, a manager named Dave joins the conversation and tells Michael how it’s pronounced, but the latter refuses to change his mind. “It’s pronounced Bublé, I know, thanks, Davé,” he says. Next, a little girl shows up and asks the singer for an autograph, calling him “Mr. Bubly”. He corrects her, saying it’s Bublé.
The commercial ends with onscreen lines informing that the bubly sparkling water has no calories and no sweeteners, and with the manager finding Bublé using a marker to change the name on the cans to his own.
This is not the only PepsiCo brand advertised during the Super Bowl 2019. The company has also aired a Pepsi ad, featuring Steve Carell and Cardi B, and a Doritos ad, featuring Chance the Rapper and the Backstreet Boys.
