U.S. Cellular advertises its Prepaid service and its limited-time offer that gives one month of service free in a new commercial.
The 30-second spot features the company’s spokesman, actor Darien Sills-Evans rushing down a hospital hallway along with a pregnant woman, who’s about to give birth and is carried on a gurney, and her life partner, who’s keeping in touch with their family and friends by having a videocall with all of them at once. “You can depend on prepaid from U.S. Cellular. Because U.S. Cellular gives all its customers its strong signal,” Sills-Evans says, while helping push the hospital trolley. He then adds that her husband, Larry, should be careful because he is with a different carrier and “hitting the walls in your wireless coverage hurts.” At this point, the man is seen falling to the ground after hitting an invisible wall. Called by his wife, who’s now getting farther in the hallway, he assures her he “got this”.
At the end of the commercial, viewers are encouraged to get one month free when they switch to U.S. Cellular while onscreen lines inform that new Prepaid line, port-in and purchase of a qualifying smartphone of $40 or more, and Simple Connect Plan are required.
Sills-Evans, who is also a writer, comedian, and director, has been the national spokesperson for U.S. Cellular since at least 2011.
