McDonald’s Canada urges people to discover the Happy Meal books and help inspire the love of reading to kids in its latest commercial, featuring Jacques L’Heureux, master storyteller.
L’Heureux says, on the 30-second spot, that he’s going to develop your inner storyteller with a little something he calls “creature gymnastics”. Thus, viewers get to see L’Heureux portraying “the awkward beaver”, “the pretentious moose”, “the tortoise in love”, “the dragon with a cold”, and “the squirrel in a hurry”.
“Every parent has an inner storyteller. To help in sharing the love of reading to kids, McDonald’s now offers a book in every Happy Meal,” the voiceover says at the end of the commercial.
Every Happy Meal includes yogurt, your choice of entrée, side, drink, and book or toy. The entrées you could choose from are the Cheeseburger, Hamburger, 4 Chicken McNuggets, Ranch Chicken Snack Wrap with Crispy Chicken, Ranch Chicken Snack Wrap with Grilled Chicken, Grilled Cheese Sandwich, and Hotcakes. As a side, you could pick World Famous Fries – Small, Mini Fry or Apple Slices, and, in terms of drinks, the range includes 1% Partly Skimmed Milk, 1% Partly Skimmed Chocolate Milk, Minute Maid Apple Juice, Minute Maid Orange Juice, and Dasani Water.
Some of the Canadian books available all year round that children can collect from their Happy Meals are Franklin’s Valentines (written by Paulette Bourgeois and illustrated by Brenda Clark) and Scaredy Squirrel (written and illustrated by Mélanie Watt).
