McDonald’s celebrates in its 2018 FIFA World Cup Global Campaign, created by Leo Burnett London, the highs and lows of being a football fan.
The campaign film, which debuted on Thursday, 14th June (the first day of the sporting event), showcases the variety of emotions that supporters from different countries around the globe experience during the FIFA World Cup and highlights that McDonald’s is there with them by enabling them to get their favorite meals in several convenient ways, from restaurants that are open 24/7, Drive Thrus, McDelivery and more. The soundtrack music is “Zorba’s Dance”, an instrumental by Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis, written for the 1964 film “Zorba the Greek.”
10-second versions of the ad feature each of the individual ways that McDonald’s is there for fans during the tournament.
McDonald’s UK head of marketing Steve Hill said: “The campaign spells out that, whatever happens in the football, McDonald’s has got the food covered. Whether with a breakfast for the early kick-off, or a McDelivery for when you’re watching at home, it’s clear that We’re with you through all of it”.
Among this year’s FIFA World Cup corporate sponsors also are Visa, Coca-Cola, Budweiser, as well as a series of new, less familiar Chinese companies, like the property group Wanda, electronics maker Hisense, smartphone producer Vivo and Mengniu Dairy.
