Currys PC World Christmas Advert

“The most wonderful time of the year” is coming and brands have started to launch their Christmas ads. One of them is Currys PC World, the largest specialist electrical retailer and services operator in the UK & Ireland, which became the first one to unveil its Christmas advert this year, in the UK.

The retailer shows us “The Magic of Christmas Upgraded” in a spot from agency AMV BBDO, which debuted on November 1st, on ITV, during Emmerdale. Set in the Victorian era, the advert features a woman dressed in a corseted gown getting a Google Home Hub to play some Christmas music, carol singers in the street using Microsoft tablets as choral sheets, people in a pub watching a football match on a flat-screen TV, an old woman sleeping with headphones on so that she wouldn’t be disturbed by the noise made in the bar situated under her apartment, more. Serving as the soundtrack is the carol Good King Wenceslas.

In another new spot, the retailer is promoting “Point & Place,” the new Augmented Reality (AR) App that aims to change the way you shop this Christmas. If you’re not sure how a new 65″ TV will look with your living room decor, or whether that shiny new American Fridge Freezer you’ve got your eye on, will fit in the kitchen, you can use the app. All you need to do open the Point & Place App, select your product (it should have the Point & Place logo next to it), point your device toward the area you want to place the product and tap the screen. The retailer allows you to use the app on a wide variety of products, from TVs and phones, to printers, sound systems, laptops, digital cameras, food mixers, dishwashers, washing machines, and more.

Currys also offers free delivery – available on all orders, the possibility to collect in store (there are over 800 stores), same day delivery on thousands of items and the possibility to spread the cost from £99.
