Specsavers has dropped a new advert, featuring the Useless Elves in Santa’s workshop wrestling with one of the great issues of the day: Artificial Intelligence.

Two elves are seen in the Useless Elvess Dpt. working on Alphatron 3000, an elf-replacement robot which gets broken when a fellow elf from a different department pushes a button. “That should come with an elf warning.” – the latter says, making the robot’s creators start laughing out loud.

The 30-second spot ends with the onscreen lines “Get something more useful this Christmas. Like an eye test.”. The
