The British wood stain, paint and preservative manufacturer Ronseal, known for “Does exactly what it says on the tin” phrase, has launched a new ad campaign for the Bank Holiday Weekend, urging people to get on with some DYI project instead of wasting time in front of their TV.
The first 30-second advert, created by BJL, features a Ronseal paint tub and some wood fence parts interacting with each other and with viewers “It’s the start of the weekend. Time to put your feet up. Or foot, if that’s your only option. Then relax.” – viewers are told at the beginning of the ad. “It’s the blank holiday, the perfect time for getting up, getting outside, and getting on with all those DIY jobs you’ve been putting off” – says the Ronseal paint tub, adding, in response to the mention that “fridge and TV are indoors, not outdoors”, “But if you’re happy to sit about and waste your entire weekend…”.
The campaign includes other seven spots, in which the Ronseal paint tub goes head to head with the fence because it keeps “telling people to forget the TV” and enjoy “an interesting and arty experience” instead.
