PayPal promotes its PayPal Instant Transfer service, that allows users to move money from their PayPal account to their debit card in minutes, in a hilarious new commercial.
The 30-second spot, titled “Free Bird”, features Janice, a woman who’s kindly asked by the person she’s visiting, through a post-it left on the fridge, to feed Skipper, a parrot whose cage is hung near the kitchen window. With her cup of coffee in one hand, she lifts the cage door with the other and goes to take the food from a cupboard. In those few moments, the bird flies out through the open window, making the woman panic. How does she solve this problem? She moves money from her PayPal account to her debit card and buys another parrot.
“Need a new Skipper before anyone notices?” – the voiceover asks at the end of the spot, adding that “With PayPal Instant Transfer, you can move money to your debit card within minutes.” “PayPal can do that” – is the final onscreen line seen, appearing while Janice is putting a new parrot in Skipper’s cage.
