The brand of milk chocolate Galaxy, made and marketed by Mars, has launched a new £3m global campaign, aiming to highlight that, “In a world full of distractions, it’s more important than ever to make time for ourselves”.
The 30-second spot, created by AMV BBDO and BBDO New York, titled “Thought Train”, features a young woman on a train (played by actress and poet Jade Anouka) as she follows a small blue bird that rested for a few moments on her smartphone and finds herself in different freight cars, each representing something different: one with small blue birds – illustrating, most probably, the stream of Twitter updates, one stuffed with to-do lists and other post-its, and one with colorful balloons popping around her – illustrating games that makes us spend (so much) time in front of our devices.
Her “journey” ends with her back into reality, in her seat, where she decides to put aside her smartphone and take a moment to indulge herself with a chunk of Galaxy chocolate.
The song used in the ad is a cover of The Pixies’ “Where is my mind?”, performed by Telepathic Teddy Bear, released in May 2013.
