The 30-second spot features a guy described as “the dumbest guy in high-school”, who wore a puka shell necklace everyday of junior year, on a 102-foot yacht, dancing around and partying in the company of dozens of beautiful young women. “The dumbest guy in high school just got a boat. Don’t get mad. Get E*TRADE” – this is the message conveyed by the online discount stock brokerage firm for self-directed investors.

Investors can buy and sell such securities as stocks, bonds, options, mutual funds, and exchange-traded funds via electronic trading platforms or by phone. The company also provides banking services to retail investors, such as sweep deposits and savings products.
